Let’s make a Dutch Baby

Dutch baby, German pancake, or Yorkshire pudding – whatever you call it here is the recipe!

Supplies:

  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 cup ap flour
  • 1/2 cup milk (we use oat)
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 3 tbsp butter (to melt in pan)
  • Cast iron (10.25 inch) – Grab our favorite pan here!
  • Bowl & mixer or blender

Instructions:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F
  • Once oven is preheated add cast iron to oven for 5 minutes to heat
  • While your cast iron is heating add eggs, flour, milk, maple syrup, vanilla extract to a bowl and mix together (with a mixer or blender) until combined (about 1-2 minutes)
  • Once the 5 minutes is up on the cast iron add 3 tbsp butter to it and close oven for another 2 minutes until butter is melted
  • Pull cast iron out of stove (IT WILL BE HOT – USE OVEN MITTS) and add your batter to it
  • Pop back in oven for 20 minutes until fluffy and golden brown
  • Top with your favorites!  Powdered sugar, fresh fruit and some maple syrup are some of our faves

The Dutch baby in the picture is with blueberries added before adding the batter. If you would like to make this follow the steps above, but add 1 cup of blueberries to the cast iron after the butter is melted let them heat in the oven another 2 minutes and then pour the batter on top of them. They will need to bake another couple minutes with the blueberries.

  1. I just made these this morning, and they were so delicious! I didn’t have any maple syrup, so I put some honey instead, and they were great too 😊
